The Story
Chhath Puja is an ancient festival devoted to the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, observed mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern UP. Devotees observe rigorous fasts and offer arghya to the setting and rising sun while standing in water.
