The Yoga of Arjuna's Dejection · 47 verses

Arjuna, overwhelmed by sorrow and moral confusion on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, lays down his bow, unable to fight against his own kinsmen.

BG 1.1

धृतराष्ट्र उवाच | धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे समवेता युयुत्सवः

dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca dharma-kṣetre kuru-kṣetre samavetā yuyutsavaḥ

Dhritarashtra asked: O Sanjaya, assembled on the holy field of Kurukshetra and eager to fight, what did my sons and the Pandavas do?

BG 1.28

दृष्ट्वेमं स्वजनं कृष्ण युयुत्सुं समुपस्थितम्

dṛṣṭvemaṁ sva-janaṁ kṛṣṇa yuyutsuṁ samupasthitam

Arjuna said: O Krishna, seeing my own kinsmen arrayed for battle, my limbs fail and my mouth grows dry.
