On Rishyamukha hill comes the first meeting with Hanuman — and from his speech alone Rama knows this is no ordinary messenger. Rama and Sugriva swear friendship; Rama kills Vali and wins Sugriva the throne of Kishkindha. The vanara armies are sent out in all four directions, and Sampati reveals that Sita is held in Lanka.

नानृग्वेदविनीतस्य नायजुर्वेदधारिणः । नासामवेदविदुषः शक्यमेवं विभाषितुम् ॥

nānṛgveda-vinītasya nāyajurveda-dhāriṇaḥ / nāsāmaveda-viduṣaḥ śakyam evaṁ vibhāṣitum

Rama tells Lakshmana about Hanuman: One untrained in the Rig Veda, who has not held the Yajur Veda, who does not know the Sama Veda — could never speak like this. A person is measured by how they speak.
